'My desire for intellectual exploration led me from a career in medicine to active membership on the investment team at Fairview. The discipline and training that I received as a physician helps me absorb large amounts of disparate information, determine what really matters, and focus on those things that actually drive superior performance. Making a diagnosis to prescribe treatment involves a skill also critical to assessing people, teams, and business opportunities — the ability to truly listen. So, I often remind myself to “bite my tongue” and listen with intent.'
